Thinking about going to university? It’s that time of year where you’re starting to decide what course you’re interested in pursuing, and where you want to study. We give you 10 reasons why you should attend a BCU Open Day.
1. Get a feel for the campus
The main draw for attending an Open Day is getting to see what the campus is like, and getting a proper feel for what student life would be like for you there. They always say, when you know, you know - you'll get a gut feeling at an Open Day if it's the right place for you or not.
2. Explore the facilities
We've invested over £400 million into our facilities, so we really recommend you come and have a peek to see what kind of equipment you could be using for your course. It's all modern and industry-standard, giving you the edge for your future career.
3. Discover our courses
On the day, you can explore as many courses and subjects across our schools and faculties as you like. This is ideal if you’ve still not decided on exactly which course you’d like to study. Our staff and students can give you their insider info too, to help you make up your mind.
4. Meet our tutors
You can meet our academics and tutors, who will give you an overview of what it’s like to study one of our courses, and what sets us apart. It’s a great way to meet our academics in a relaxed setting, and find out more about your chosen course.
5. Meet our students
You’ll also get the chance to see what our students think about studying at BCU, as well as putting your questions to them on the day to get answered via social media. We also have students involved in talks, meaning you get insight not only from staff but also current students who will have a relatable viewpoint and answers to your questions.

Looking for somewhere to put your embarrassing parents? Every attendee (and their guests) at our Open Days get a free drink voucher, so you can kick back with an iced coffee or refuel after a big day doing research and tours!
8. Explore what’s on offer
From our facilities, to the Students’ Union, to our international student community, our Open Day covers everything you need to know – not just about your course, but where you’ll study, your accommodation options, and what student life is like.
9. Go on a tour
You can go on a tour of our accommodation buildings to find the right one for you, and you can also take a peek around each of our main buildings across our campuses. This will help you get a feel for where you could be studying (and where to get the nearest frappe!).
10. Discover Birmingham and student life
Last but not least, our Open Days will give you an insight into what Birmingham has to offer and what student life is like in the UK’s second city, with student Q&As, tours and student ambassadors on hand to answer questions. Boasting indie restaurants and cafes, loads of shopping options and endless socialising choices, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
