10 things to do before you leave BCU

If you’ve come to the end of your course, congratulations! It doesn’t mean your relationship with BCU is coming to an end. We’ve got a checklist of things to do before you leave to stay in touch or even stick around!

1. Graduate in style

If you're coming along to graduation, remember to put on your best smile and wear your cap with pride! Graduation is an important, special day to celebrate all your achievements with your friends and family, so make sure you’re registered and prepared for the day.

2. Consider sticking around

Undergraduate study doesn’t have to be the end of your time at BCU. With over 120 postgraduate and professional development courses to choose from, we’d be happy to welcome you back in September.

As a BCU graduate, you could be eligible for a 20% fee reduction on your Master’s with our Graduate Scholarship! Plus, you can apply for postgraduate study in just a few minutes using our fast track application.

3. Keep in touch

If you are leaving BCU, the first thing to do is join our Alumni Association to keep up with class reunions, industry events, exclusive discounts and more.

4. Tell us where to send your certificate

Before you claim a spot on the wall and buy a frame for your final degree certificate, log into MySRS and confirm the address you’d like us to send it to.

5. Tie up your library account

Log into your library account and make sure you’ve returned any items on loan, used up your print credit and paid off any charges. You can still join the library as an Alumni member for £35 per year, as well as other uni libraries through the SCONUL scheme.

6. Transfer all your documents

If you’ve been saving your work to OneDrive or My Computer on BCU PCs, remember to transfer the documents to a personal drive. However, you’ll still be able to get access your OneDrive for 24 months after graduation, as well as Office 365, iCity, Moodle, Mahara and your BCU email.

7. Start climbing the career ladder

Remember, you get ongoing careers and employment support for three years after graduation. Book an appointment with our dedicated Careers+ team to explore your options and sign up to our online jobs board for graduate jobs that match your interests.

8. Become your own boss

Looking to start your own business? Turn your idea into a reality with the help of STEAMhouse, a collaboration centre for innovation and creation in the heart of Digbeth.

9. Keep us updated

We know that you’ll make waves in the outside world, so remember to let us know what you’re up to with the Graduate Outcomes survey when it hits your inbox in 15 months’ time.

10. Remember, you are BCU

Even if you’re working on the other side of the world in 20 years’ time, you’ll always be part of our BCU community. Let everyone know you’re proud of your university by using #IAMBCU.
