Students as Partners

With an increasingly competitive job market, it’s more important than ever that graduates leave higher education with the right skills and experience to set them apart from the crowd.

We already offer ways in which we make a contribution to ‘upgrading your future’ including initiatives like Student Academic Partners and the Student Academic Mentoring Programme and the student employment agency Opportunity.

While studying at the University you’ll also hear about our student experience project ‘Partners for Success’, which puts an emphasis on staff and student partnership work.

What are the main objectives of Partners for Success?

The objectives focus on:

  • Improving support for students relevant to the different stages of their programmes
  • Incorporating more personalised approaches to learning
  • Involving students more in curriculum design
  • Embedding work-related activities and careers support into all our programmes.

Partners for Success in action

The ELSS Student Advisory Board (SAB) is a shining example of how Partners for Success can make a positive impact.

Through the SAB, students in ELSS have the opportunity to take an active part in how their course is run.

The regular involvement of students in the decision making process has been praised for helping students become more successful and involved with the University and has recently won the ‘Extra Collaborative Project’ Award at the Students’ Union-led Extra Mile Awards 2013.
