Enrolment ID Checks
As a condition of your enrolment at BCU, an ID check is required to confirm your identity and ensure the accuracy of the information we hold.
This process also allows us to confirm your identity to external organisations, such as the Student Loans Company. If you are receiving a student loan, the University can only confirm your registration to Student Finance once this check has been completed and you are fully enrolled.
This is only applicable for home students as international students are required to complete this check during the on-campus enrolment appointment.
Please log in to your mySRS enrolment portal to complete your ID check.
Steps to Complete Your ID Check
1. Upload a current photo
Submit a recent photo of yourself. This photo will be used for your student ID card.
2. Upload Your ID
Provide a photo or scan of an accepted form of ID (see list below). Ensure the photo/scan is of good quality, clearly showing your face (if applicable) and all personal information.
Acceptable Forms of ID:
- Passport (Preferred Option)
- UK Driving Licence (Full or provisional)
- European Union Identity Card
If you are unable to provide one of the documents above, you will need to present two items from below in person on campus:
- Birth/Adoption certificate
- Marriage/Civil Partnership certificate
- Correspondence from Student Loan Company or local authority
- National insurance card
- HM Forces ID card
- Credit card statement
- Utility bill
- Home office documents
- Benefits statement (E.g. childcare, pension, etc.)
- Correspondence from HMRC (Inland revenue)
It is crucial that the personal information in our student record system (legal name and date of birth) matches the information on your ID. If there are discrepancies, we will contact you to explain the changes needed or request additional information.
Additional Support
If you are unable to provide the above forms of ID, please contact the Student Lifecycle Team at enrolment@bcu.ac.uk or call 0121 331 5684. In such cases, we may need to arrange an in-person ID check if you do not hold a UK Passport or UK Driving Licence.
By completing the ID check, you ensure a smooth and secure start to your academic journey at BCU. We look forward to welcoming you to our community!
