Nursing and Midwifery placements
As a student on one of our nursing or midwifery courses, placements are an important and compulsory part of your university experience. Placement opportunities will be embedded throughout your course. You will complete placements in a variety of different community and hospital settings to develop your skills and experience and prepare you for your chosen profession.
What is it like on placement?
Students on our healthcare courses told us what it's really like on placement. They share the challenging times and rewarding moments they experienced that have made them a better healthcare professional.
Nursing Placements in the Private, Independent and Voluntary sector
The nursing profession is very varied. It's not just about working in wards in NHS hospitals. Our nursing graduates go on to careers in a huge variety of specialties and settings, including residential homes, hospices, community settings and charities. We talked to some of our placement hosts about the value of student nurses getting experience in different sectors and what BCU placement students bring to their organisation.
What to wear on placement
We've spoken to some of our tutors and students to give you an overview of what uniform we provide. Plus, we have guidelines on everything from shoes to tattoos.
