1. Golf Fang (formerly known as Ghetto Golf)
It’s mini golf, but like you’ve never seen it before. Think neon, think graffiti, think weird and wonderful décor, and some very interestingly themed holes... It’s Golf Fang, this is mini golf for strictly adults only (IYKYK). An experience like no other, you can sip cocktails and get a hole-in-one in the coolest area in the UK – Digbeth.
2. Tilt
Craft beer and retro pinball. What more could you ask for? This is exactly what Tilt offers, plus speciality coffees and fancy teas. With over 20 pinball machines over three floors, you can play anything from a Game of Thrones machine to an Iron Maiden beauty – can you beat the top score?
3. Lane7
This is a whole lot more than just bowling. With stylish surroundings plus beer pong, arcade games and shuffleboard, Lane7 makes for a great alternative night out, and you even get student discount. They do karaoke, too, if you feel like belting out your winning song after beating everyone at the games.
4. Rush UK
Ever fancied a UV trampolining disco? Well, at Rush UK in Kings Norton, you can do just that. You can use your student discount across a range of trampolining activities, from assault courses to just a simple bounce with your squad. Our student Hafsa went along and had a go when she showed us how to have the best day ever without alcohol…
5. Dessert bars
Go on, you deserve a treat. Visit one of Birmingham’s many dessert cafés to satisfy your craving for waffles, indulgent milkshakes, crêpes and any ice cream flavour you could imagine! Why not try Pirlo’s, Eis Café or Creams Café to get you started?
6. Board games
Nothing beats a good board game. Loads of pubs in Birmingham have everything from Monopoly to Jenga on offer to play while you sip your pint – try Cherry Red’s, The Wolf, 1000 Trades or the Queen’s Arms. But if you’re more hardcore into your board games, maybe somewhere like dedicated board game café Meeple Mayhem is more up your street.
7. Birmingham Bouldering Centre
If you’re after a more adrenaline-fuelled activity, why not try rock climbing? With student discount, you can scale new heights at the Birmingham Bouldering Centre housed in a railway arch in the Jewellery Quarter. It's just a short stroll over to St Paul's Square if you fancy resting up or going for a cuppa at one of the picturesque cafés or bars on the square.
8. Ball Park Birmingham
Located in Floodgate Street in Digbeth, Ball Park offers a giant ball pit and slide, shuffleboard tables, ping pong and arcade games. Worked up an appetite? They also serve street food, which could be washed down with Instagrammable cocktails.
What's your favourite thing to do when you feel like taking a break from adulting? Let us know! You could always try out one of these fun activities after a long day at one of our upcoming Open Days...who knows, your mum could be a ping pong champ!
