Where to watch the Euros in Birmingham

Whether you’re a die-hard football fan or just getting swept up in Euro fever, if you’re wondering where the best places are to watch the matches this Summer in Birmingham, look no further. Here’s our guide to where to see a game around the city.

Harborne Stores

This is a more traditional local pub in the week, with the karaoke and DJ’s coming out over the weekend. It’s not unusual to see a round of student pub golf right next to an older man and his newspaper. With plenty of screens to take in the action, this is one for your list if you’re based a bit further out of the city centre.

Where: 109 High Street, B17 9NP

When: Showing all the games

What to expect: A good friendly atmosphere, as well as pre-bookable tables and packages.

Gosta Green

Just a short walk from the BCU campus is the Gosta Green. Showing live sport on big screens, this student-friendly pub is a big hit with local football fans. There's also pool tables, dart boards and weekly post-match pub quizzes!

Where: Holt Street, B7 4BG

When: Every second of every game

What to expect: Big screens, a wide selection of drinks and student discounts during the week

The Prince of Wales

Another local’s favourite and award-winning pub, but this one is a jewel in Moseley’s crown. With screens in the bar and a giant screen in their massive garden, there’ll be plenty of room to watch the game whatever the weather. From cask ales to exotic cocktails they have a wide selection of drinks, which is perfect for even the non-football fans among us.

Where: 118 Alcester Road, B13 8EE

When: From the first whistle in the opening game to the last whistle in the final.

What to expect: Something for everyone – old or young, massive fan or novice.

Eagle and Ball

1840 – not the year England were last good at football, but the year the Eagle and Ball was first established. The pub is now the home of BCU Students' Union and is perfect for students looking to catch the World Cup. A summer menu offering £5 for a pizza and any soft drink (make it £7 for something stronger) to go alongside the three screens throughout the pub ensures there is plenty to occupy your stomach and eyes.

Where: Gopsal Street, B4 7RJ – next to BCU’s Curzon Building

When: All weekday games

What to expect: A friendly welcome, cheap but great food and drink

Bodega Cantina

Best known for its amazing South American food, Bodega is a restaurant nestled in the heart of Birmingham. They've got two large TVs with full commentary, plus some great food and drinks deals.

Where: 12 Bennett’s Hill, B2 5RS (downstairs in the Sugarloaf Bar)

When: All games

What to expect: South American flair and fantastic food.

Hennessey’s

A large outdoor screen in a heated garden, to help keep your eyes and body warm throughout our English "summer". Hennessey’s also have specially installed screens throughout their air conditioned bar and an extra-large screen in their downstairs overflow bar.

Where: 30-31 Allison Street, Digbeth, B5 5TJ

When: All games

What to expect: Screens (lots of them) as well as top quality food and a great atmosphere

Walkabout

No matter what country you're supporting, you can watch them all from Walkabout in Birmingham. They've got  plasma screens and reasonably priced drinks - some matches are ticketed only, so be sure to secure your spot in advance.

Where: 266-271 Broad Street (opposite Brindleyplace)

When: All matches – be sure to book your table for the big games

What to expect: As soon as the final whistle blows its lights down and music up.

The Distillery

With the biggest outdoor screen in Birmingham and a canal-side beer garden, it seems The Distillery have you covered whether you’re the biggest of football fans or are just getting dragged along by someone who is. They’re famous for their gin too!

Where: 4 Sheepcote Street, B16 8AE – Just around the corner from Arena Birmingham and Brindleyplace

When: All games - booking is available for Exclusive VIP boxes and private spaces too

What to expect: Buckets of great food including sourdough pizza and rotisserie chickens. There are also buckets of beer – literally.
