Law and Social Sciences facilities
Our Law and Social Sciences courses boast a range of unique facilities that you can take advantage of during your time at BCU.
Law Courts
We have both a mock Crown Court and a mock Magistrates Court, giving you the chance to practice your skills in a realistic environment mimicking the top levels of the British legal system.
Both courtrooms are used across various modules, including Professional Skills and Practice where students are assessed through a piece of advocacy, for example a bail application or plea in mitigation.
They also host our Mooting and Debating Society activities. We hold our internal and external moots and debates in the courtrooms, and use them when supporting mock trials undertaken by the Psychology department.
Law Clinic
BCU has an on-campus Law Clinic where you can work under supervision on real legal problems. Students can become involved with the Law Clinic by taking one of the assessed modules as part of their degree, or by volunteering for one of the Law Clinic’s many other projects.
Law Practice Room
The Law Practice room is a dedicated space for Law students to read and research materials. It's also a good spot to practice mooting and debate skills, prepare arguments and group work as well as being fully stocked with law books dating back to the last century.
The Hive
Our Curzon building boasts an innovative lecture theatre called The Hive that features group activity seating, integrated technology and excellent sight lines.
