Our Business School saw over sixty businesses entering its doors as it hosted an exclusive speed networking event. The event was aimed at giving marketing, business, HR and accounting and finance students the opportunity to network and engage with organisations.
Businesses from a wealth of industries attended, with the likes of PwC, Lounge Underwear, Lloyd Banking Group, Tribera and Hoodrich all attending to meet with future talent.
Students spent up to five minutes chatting to representatives from each business, discussing career opportunities and how to best prepare for the world of work, before a bell signalled moving on to meeting with another business.
Associate Professor and employability lead for the Business School, Emma Neale, said: “We organised this event to display the talents and real-world skills that our students and graduates possess - skills that can make a positive difference to the region’s businesses.
“By bringing businesses and students together, there’s a chance to build mutually-fulfilling partnerships that can enhance skills and performance, solve challenges and help businesses stand out.”
The event proved to be a success, enabling students to find out more about employment prospects, build their contacts, discover new knowledge and showcase their abilities to businesses.
Coel Taylor, Business Marketing student, said: “By engaging with a diverse range of exciting brands and agencies, I was exposed to a wealth of opportunity, essential career advice and several connections. More importantly, it was really fun to get out my comfort zone and talk face to face with potential employers, boosting my confidence as I transition away from university life.”
The event gave the region’s businesses a vital opportunity to meet future talent that could make a positive difference to their organisation, as well as pinpointing businesses challenges and skills gaps they may currently be encountering.
