In collaboration with the George Asda Buying team, students have been working hard since February on the collaborative project, which involved researching and understanding the George consumer and developing a range plan for a future trend.

At several points during the project we had visits and guest lecturers from members of the George Asda Buying and Merchandising team. This included Birmingham City University alumni Laura Rock, who is now a Denim Buyer at George Asda’s Head Office.

All eight students presented their range books and gave presentations on their ranges, which were designed for the George consumer.

George said the students were ‘outstanding’ and that they were very impressed with the standard on the day. One member of the team commented that “the confidence in their presentations and the attention to detail in their research and projects was excellent.”

The high quality of work from all of the students made it a very difficult job to choose one winner, so the George Asda team decided to offer T H R E E students the opportunity to undertake some work experience with them. The winners were Isabelle Davies, Megan Pound and Lauren Sinar, who are all pictured below.

The prize is up to three weeks of work experience, which will now be opened up to each of the students in either buying, merchandising or both. We are V E R Y proud of our students’ achievements, especially receiving the commendation at a first year level. A big well done to all the students involved!
