Bianca Vancea was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and began to learn piano at the age of six. She moved to the UK in September 2021 and has been studying at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under John Thwaites. During her time at RBC, she has participated in numerous competitions, and has been involved in projects, festivals and masterclasses. Some highlights include being a finalist in the Beryl Chempin Beethoven Prize (2023), performing at the Ulverston International Music Festival (2023 & 2024), and featuring in RBC Lunchtime Recitals as a collaborative pianist.
Bianca is a joint winner of the John Ireland Prize and has been awarded the Edward Brooks English Song Accompanist Prize and the Gordon Clinton Prize for English Song Pianist. Later this year, Maria and Bianca will be releasing an album featuring a selection of twentieth-century English songs centred around the theme of nature.
