Howells Clarinet Sonata

RBC Trumpet Club

Directed by Andrew Stone-Fewings

Programme to include works by Dukas, John Williams and Duncan Fielden

Jamie Salters (pictured) is currently a fourth-year student at RBC studying the clarinet. He's enjoyed many experiences over his time here with many highlights some of which coming from solo and orchestral playing. Recently, he has performed Weber Clarinet Concerto No.1 with Wandsworth Symphony Orchestra as well as doing multiple solo concerts at places like Holy Trinity church in Stratford upon Avon.

Jamie has been involved in many orchestral projects at RBC and externally including the Amadeus Orchestra. His greatest love in music is to be able to play pieces written by British composers, as he believes that their music is very much underappreciated, which is why Jamie and a fellow student entered, and eventually won, the John Ireland Prize playing Ireland’s amazing Fantasy-Sonata for clarinet and piano.

RBC’s Trumpet Club meets every Friday and rehearses under the direction of visiting tutor Andrew Stone-Fewings. The ensemble performs regularly, both inside and outside the Conservatoire. In 2025 the students are looking forward to premiering a new work by RBC Director of Undergraduate Studies Duncan Fielden.
