Money and childcare support
The Money and Childcare Advice Team is available by appointment 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday, except during Bank Holidays and Universtiy closures.
If you are struggling with money this can cause anxiety and stress that may affect your academic performance so please get in touch if you need advice or support. Log an enquiry through your Faculty Student Centre or on the Student Support Helpdesk.

Budgeting effectively can help you cover the most essential costs first and work out what money you have available to do things that help you relax and bring you enjoyment. There are lots of web resources available to help you with this, here are a few:

Extra financial help
The Financial Assistance Fund may be able to help you if you are experiencing genuine financial difficulties. The Fund is open to fully enrolled home and international students of the University following an undergraduate or postgraduate course. You can get further information on iCity.
Urgent support
If something unexpected happens and you need urgent support with essentials such as food or travel to University then you should contact your faculty student centre. They may make a referral to the University Student Pantry which can offer basic food and hygiene items to students in need due to unexpected circumstances. and/or refer you to the Money and Childcare Advice team to discuss other options.
Food banks
If you find yourself without essential food supplies, and have no money to buy them, you might be able to receive a food parcel from a local food bank. It’s best to call before visiting to make sure they are open and able to help you.
