A group of students from the School of Media recently had the opportunity to visit leading industry experts in Amsterdam, learning about their marketing and PR strategies.
The four-day trip provided students with a fantastic opportunity to explore their media interests in another city, including the chance to meet with the marketing teams at both I Amsterdam and CLUSE. During these visits, media students learnt about the companies’ marketing and PR strategies, as well as how to build a brand and create brand awareness.
I Amsterdam are a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping Amsterdam thrive. Whist there, the students were given a presentation about the 'I Amsterdam' marketing campaign and talked through their strategy to improve tourism in line with the local trends and heritage. Based in Amsterdam, CLUSE is one of the fastest growing accessories brands in the world, creating timepieces that represent elegance and minimalism. At CLUSE the group were given a presentation about the companies influencer marketing strategy and how they discover the customer journey through research and analysis to improve the customer experience.
The students managed to cram many activities into their short stay in the city. The School of Media provided I Amsterdam cards for everyone on the trip, which allowed visits to the Ice Bar, swinging ‘over the edge’ on top of the A’DAM Lookout and a canal boat tour around the picturesque waterways throughout the city.
The study trip, which was open to all School of Media students, provided a chance for students to explore the sights of the city, including Dam Square, the Museum District and the smaller less crowded cobble streets off the main roads. Some of the museums students visited included Anne Frank House, Rijkmuseum, Van Gough Museum and the MOC Museum.
