Student using engineering equipment

Course Aims:

This summer school offers a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience in the mechanical, electronic, automotive, manufacturing and advanced engineering domains. It integrates real-world industrial challenges with practical, project-based activities inspired by the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) and CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate) methodologies. The summer school encourages creative thinking and innovative problem-solving, preparing students for the future of engineering solutions.

What will you study?

Participants will explore key components of modern and future engineering problem solving through a practical industry-driven project. This includes working on real-world industrial challenges while gaining insights into cutting-edge technologies in mechanical, Automotive, manufacturing and electronic engineering. The summer school provides opportunities to work with our expert academic staff and industry mentors from Birmingham City University's College of Engineering, using the state-of-the-art facilities at our City Centre Campus.

During this course, you will:

  • Develop creativity in engineering design and implementation through the STEAM approach.
  • Work on industry-inspired challenges to explore advanced engineering technologies.
  • Experience our world-class facilities such as automotive test cells, engine test labs, and mechanical and electronic labs.
