Charles is a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) with more than a decade of industry experience. Prior to joining academia, Charles worked as consultant and auditor (external and internal) in accounting and audit firms, servicing clients across industries and sectors. He has also worked in internal audit and risk management functions in a number of firms. Clients served included oil & gas, financial services, automotive, property management and consultancy. Clients also included Central Government departments, UK Local Government Authorities, and the Health Service.

In addition to teaching, Charles is an active researcher. He has published his research in academic journals that are internationally recognised.
