The Screen Cultures cluster explores cultural representations of gender and sexuality in screen-based media ranging from film and television to computer games, animation and the Internet.
Recent research in the Screen Cultures cluster has addressed the following topics:
- Sexual representation and the pornography debate
- Sexuality and affect (particularly in relation to cult cinema)
- Gay representation and gay culture
- Film and television melodrama
- (Neo)burlesque and popular TV

Media and Cultural Studies PhD Research Degree
We have a strong community of doctoral students contributing a wide range of research on our Media and Cultural Studies PhD research degree course.
