Graduation Ceremonies

Ceremony permissions

All BCU graduation ceremonies are filmed and live-streamed online, so by attending, you and your guests should be aware that your images may be used for these purposes.

You may also be filmed during the ceremony for live streaming and photographed throughout the day for future University publicity, excluding personal portraits taken by our official photographer.

Personal publicity options

You have the option to tell us if you would like your full name and award(s) to be included in the official ceremony/alumni merchandise, which includes:

  • Your full name and award(s) will be included in the award brochure. If you achieved a First Class Honours or Distinction, your award classification will also be listed. However, this does not affect your name being included if you received any other classification. Each graduate will receive a copy of the award brochure on the day of their ceremony.

  • Having your full name included on BCU branded commemorative merchandise such as clothing. The commemorative merchandise will be sold at the venue on the day of your graduation ceremony.

If you choose to opt out of any of the above publicity, please ensure that your ceremony guests are informed of your decision. The University cannot discuss this matter with third parties due to data protection laws.

If you wish to update your publicity preferences after you have completed the registration task, you can do this by emailing us at award.ceremonies@bcu.ac.uk. Please note you must do this by Friday 29 November 2024. After this deadline, you will be unable to change your preferences as the publications and merchandise will have been sent off to production.

For further information on how the University collects, uses and shares your personal data for graduation purposes, and your rights in relation to the personal data we hold, you can read our full privacy statement.
