Teaching Enhancement

EDS provides academic and related development opportunities for staff at Birmingham City University and its partner institutions, including credit-bearing Masters' level provision.

Through an MEd (Masters of Education) framework, EDS delivers the University's educational development courses for academic and academic-related staff. This includes the Postgraduate Certificate Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCert) and additional HE-specific modules that can be studied at Postgraduate diploma and Masters degree level (Learning and Teaching in Higher Education).

Work conducted across our taught programmes can also contribute towards evidencing requisite capabilities, as measured by the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF). Participants achieving the required standard within our PGCert programme will automatically be accredited as Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). We also offer courses recognised under SEDA's Professional Development Framework.

In addition to our scheduled credit-bearing provision, we aim to raise staff awareness and engagement in a range of learning, teaching, assessment and curriculum design issues through bespoke workshops and activities across the University.
