The Gem Diamond Diploma follows the syllabus of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) and is suitable for those who need to study diamonds in-depth, either to further their career or to fuel their passion.

The course includes diamond identification and grading, which are studied in the laboratory, together with a series of lectures. This leads to the formal Gemmological Association of Great Britain examination.

For both Gemmology Diploma courses there is an additional charge payable to the Gemmological Association for registration and examination fees.

Payment and enrolment

To confirm a place on the course, you must pay the course fees in full during enrolment before the course starts. Enrolment will take place at the School of Jewellery on the following dates:

  • Monday 11 to Thursday 14 September 2017, 10am to 6pm
  • Friday 15 September 2017, 10am to 4pm.

Our Facilities

Assay Office

Our gemmology students are based in new, state-of-the-art premises at 1 Moreton Street in the Jewellery Quarter with access to the highest specification of equipment available for gemmological education within the UK. You'll use diamond-testing equipment at Assay Office Birmingham's AnchorCert Gem Laboratory.
