Discover Carers Project

OSIME Discover Connect for Care In June 15 work completed on a three year project partly funded by the European Commission (E1.9m).

The project, Digital Inclusion Skills for Carers offering Value, Opportunity and Excellence, (DISCOVER) involved 9 organisations based within 5 countries and led to the creation and evaluation of a digital learning portal called the Skills Zone, designed to help carers to use technology in ways that provides support to them during their caring roles.

OSIME RDG led the work package responsible for portal and learning activity design and technology integration. The project received a rare commendation from EC reviewers during the final review meeting and received positive evaluations from carers.

The project received a very positive final review judgement in which the European Commission praised the synergies that existed within the project team, recognized that the project had been very well managed and had demonstrated transferability between member states.

Particular commendation was reserved for the feedback that the project provided the Commission in terms of future support for carers. Feedback that the EC “could use to directly inform future policy”, something that is apparently unusual for such projects!
