Jessica Gallagher

Jessica Gallagher is a Lecturer in Law and joined BCU in 2022. She is currently studying for her PhD in Law which researches Self-Harm and Suicide in Adult Male prisoners. Her areas of research interest include prison conditions, the Criminal Justice system, sentencing criminal law and the relationship between politics and the Criminal Justice System. Recently she has spent time researching the impact of Covid-19 on the prison estate and on levels of prisoner self-harm.

Jessica is currently the module lead for the Dissertation and Crime and Punishment modules at L6 and the Criminal Justice Module at L4. Before she was a lecturer at BCU, Jessica was a lecturer and research assistant at DMU in Leicester. She studied her LLB at DMU and then moved to University of Leicester to study her MSc.
