Inclusive External Human-Machine Interface for Automated Vehicles-d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing Pedestrian Interaction

This research aims to fill this gap related to 11 million d/Deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) people in the UK (potentially benefiting 450 million worldwide). We aim to employ a user-centred design approach with our stakeholders to provide an accessible eHMI for facilitating communication between AV and DHH pedestrians.

Small Performances: Investigating the typographic punches of Baskerville

'Small performances' is an interdisciplinary project that will make a substantial contribution to the history of printing technology, whilst ensuring it is a living process that will continue into the future. At its heart is the exceptional collection of typographic punches designed, cut, and used at the Birmingham workshop of England's foremost printer, John Baskerville (1707-75).

Aural Histories: Coventry, c.1451-1642

This Royal Birmingham Conservatoire project aims to explore the changing experience of music in late-medieval and early-modern Coventry, through a series of performances and recordings within VR reconstructions of its lost performing spaces – most notably including St Michael’s Cathedral, destroyed during the blitz of 1940.
