Experience an evening of breath-taking saxophone music inspired by the landscapes and culture of Norway.
Fjord Fantasia features new works and arrangements by composers with close ties to Norway, blending genres to create a rich and varied program. Performed by students from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Saxophone Department, this concert showcases the versatility of the saxophone through exciting new music and familiar Norwegian-inspired sounds.
The programme includes works by Rob Buckland and Trygve Madsen, alongside world premieres by Aidan Teplitzky, Julie Helgeland Davidsen, and Fiona Troon. Arrangements of music by Ola Gjeilo and Edvard Grieg further highlight the deep connection between Norwegian musical heritage and the expressive power of the saxophone.
Led by Norwegian saxophonist Andrey Fjeldstad, Fjord Fantasia promises a captivating and immersive musical journey.
