The Typographic Hub
The Typographic Hub (TH), is a constituent part of the Centre for Printing History and Culture (CPHC) and is located in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media (ADM) at Birmingham City University (BCU).
Between September and April each year, postgraduate and undergraduate students in the Hub collaborate to organise what has become a very a popular series of ‘Type Talks’. Recent speakers have included Shani Avani, Sarah Boris, Neville Brody, David Carson, Rob Draper and Rick Poyner.
The Hub is also home to an excellent collection of books, journals, magazines, type specimens and typographic ephemera. Subjects covered include bibliography, book trade, bookbinding, graphic design, graphic reproduction, paper making, printing science, printing processes, typesetting, typefaces, typography and writing. The collection is open to all and can be accessed, free of charge, by appointment.
