    Doctoral researcher

    Gwydion has been a character both onstage and off for his entire life, and has always delighted in bringing the thrill of the stage to others. He worked professionally in Atlanta for a time whilst completing his undergraduate degree and then relocated to Birmingham to complete his MFA. 

  • Shi Ling Chin

    Doctoral researcher

    Shi Ling Chin was born in Malaysia and started playing the violin at the age of 11. At 17, she was awarded a bursary to further her musical studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire, where she started lessons with Nathaniel Vallois.  

  • Kendall Cowle

    Doctoral researcher

    Kendall Cowle (Kenny) is a current PhD candidate within the school of Visual Communication at Birmingham City University and is being funded by Midlands4Cities. Her research focuses specifically on developing new understandings of Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) though the use of photography.

  • Laura Farre Rozada

    Doctoral researcher

    Laura is an award-winning pianist and mathematician. She is currently a PhD student in performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where she has been awarded a Midlands4Cities AHRC Doctoral Studentship.

  • Samia La Virgne

    Doctoral researcher

    Originally from California, Samia La Virgne is a black actress, director and theatre arts practitioner with a B.A. in Theatre Studies and M.F.A. in Acting. She is interested in the improvement of the representation of marginalized groups in the performing arts industry, especially black actresses.

  • Hannah Roberts

    Doctoral researcher

    Hannah is a doctoral researcher at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Her research interests include nineteenth-century piano pedagogy and performance practice, and modern-day piano pedagogy. Alongside her doctoral studies, Hannah is a visiting piano tutor at Cheltenham College and Aldwickbury Independent Boys School.

  • Daniel Tong

    Head of Piano in Chamber Music

    Daniel is Head of Piano in Chamber Music at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. As a performe, he has released numerous commercial CDs, performed at major venues throughout the UK and Europe and founded two chamber music festivals.
